Happy Birthday, Carl Sagan

When I was a kid, PBS ran an incredible series on science and history called "Cosmos". It was a seminal event, and I don't think it's an exaggeration to say that Carl Sagan was one of the best popularizers of science in the twentieth century. He still strikes a chord; here's a snippet from Cosmos.

Would have made a gluten free apple pie but I started 13 billion years too late.

I loved Cosmos and it was incredibly influential in my life. The secret of it, compared to many similar series, was revealed in its subtitle: "A Personal Journal".

I commented last night on Facebook and Google+ that I'd like to see Michio Kaku do a similar personal journey series.
